Manchester United player ratings vs Arsenal: Marcus Rashford outstanding but Aaron Wan-Bissaka suspect

Manchester United’s hopes of gatecrashing the Premier League title race suffered a blow as they conceded a late Eddie Nketiah goal to lose 3-2 at leaders Arsenal.

Here’s how Erik ten Hag’s team rated at Emirates Stadium...

David de Gea 5

A nervous wreck with the ball at his feet but had been beaten by two good goals before having a save to make. One from Nketiah late on was brilliant, though.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 5

A performance that summed him up. Good one-on-one but positionally suspect and switched off, with no idea Nketiah was lurking for equaliser.

Raphael Varane 7

Like his partner, excellent on the ball. Made important block on Nketiah as Arsenal chased third.

Lisandro Martinez 8

Outstanding. So good in possession and made several vital clearances on the cover. Adjusted brilliantly to score leveller.

Luke Shaw 6

Enjoyable tussle with England team-mate Saka. Good in the air, but second-best on the ground. Booked.

Scott McTominay 6

Preferred to Fred as Casemiro’s deputy and was did well against a midfield that have dominated most games this season.

Christian Eriksen 6

Range of passing helped relieve pressure with switches out to Antony. Stood off Saka too long for goal that put Arsenal ahead. Learned lesson and defected a similar effort onto the post.

Antony 5

Booed throughout after failed attempt to win early penalty but position high on right helped restrict Zinchenko’s involvement inside. Never showed his quality on the ball, though.

Bruno Fernandes 6

Wanted an early penalty but would have been very soft. Did his share of defensive work to stop midfield being overrun.

Marcus Rashford 8

Goal typical of the confidence with which he is playing. Made interception, showed great feet and then smashed home. Saw off White by half-time, too.

Wout Weghorst 5

Rarely involved as United’s best attacks came from Rashford’s flank but presence did at least occupy centre-halves.

Substitutes

Fred (Antony 71’) 6

Brought on to strengthen midfield as Zinchenko began to dictate.

Unused: Heaton, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia, Mainoo, Pellistri, Garnacho, Elanga
