Manchester United player ratings as Jadon Sancho and Zidane Iqbal good vs Melbourne Victory

Tom Heaton

Had no chance for the goal and had little else to do on his first 90-minute performance on the tour. 6

Diogo Dalot

Continued to collaborate promisingly with Jadon Sancho and his cross led to Anthony Martial's goal. 6

Victor Lindelof

Bypassed too easily for the goal, although he was drawn out of position by Luke Shaw going walkabout. 5

Harry Maguire

Off the pace for a goal and not for the first time. Did not anticipate the threat and United were punished. 5

Luke Shaw

He was still in the Melbourne third when the ball passed him in the move for the opening goal. A comedown after Bangkok. 5

Scott McTominay

Had two shots blocked and persistence paid off when his third effort looped in via a decisive deflection. 6

Fred

Did little wrong but did little right in a nondescript half where United played patiently. 6

Bruno Fernandes

Was in danger of regressing but had a shot saved and he was noticeably prudent with the ball again. 6

Jadon Sancho

United's best and most creative player again, Sancho played Fernandes in for a chance and then Dalot through for Martial's goal. 7

Anthony Elanga

Other than an inswinger, he made no deliberate contribution to the attack. Unwittingly assisted Martial to make it 2-1. 5

Anthony Martial

In the right place at the right time to seize on the loose ball and put United ahead with a striker's nouse Martial is not synonymous with. 6

Subs

Ethan Laird

Played ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka but did not make much of an impression. 6

Eric Bailly

Another crowdpleasing performance where he was responsible for United's second-half goal, this time assisting Rashford. 7

Alex Telles

A more serene night than in Bangkok. 6

Tyrell Malacia

Similarly to Laird, he did not impose himself on the game as the tempo nosedived. 6

Charlie Savage

Another fulfilling run-out for the midfielder, who was more defensive than Zidane Iqbal. 7

Zidane Iqbal

Another polished performance from the 19-year-old who is threatening to become the breakout youngster of the tour. 7

Tahith Chong

An odd choice to put on for the second-half when Hannibal Mejbri and Alejandro Garnacho are on tour. Chong did at least force an own goal. 6

Donny van de Beek

Played as the 10 again, where Ten Hag says he has a "smell" for it. Again, Van de Beek did not really get a sniff. 5

Marcus Rashford

Took his goal well; the desired response to being benched for Elanga. 7

Amad

Played through the middle again, which did him no favours, and he had little impact. 5
