Manchester United player ratings as Casemiro and De Gea good vs Bournemouth

David de Gea

Made two saves in 10 seconds just before the hour when Philip Billing met a cross unattended. Made a better save from Jadon Anthony a minute later. 8

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Another fine defensive performance and the roar one of his sliding tackles elicited suggests he has the crowd back onside. 7

Victor Lindelof

Recalled to centre half and defended breezily, primarily leaving the aerial duels to Harry Maguire. 6

Harry Maguire

Not a wholly convincing evening for the United captain, who clumsily conceded a corner and was outjumped by Billing. 6

Luke Shaw

Defended soundly and his goal was reminiscent of his opener in the Euro 2020 final. Switched off too often after he scored. 7

Casemiro

In the thick of it at both ends and took his first Old Trafford goal masterfully. He should have had an assist with a cross for Anthony Martial. 8

Christian Eriksen

Created a goal from a set-piece for the second week running. The technician showed why he is undroppable in the league. 7

Marcus Rashford

Started on the left and switched to the right. Had some purposeful runs but invariably did not get anywhere. But got his goal. 6

Bruno Fernandes

Peripheral on the flanks and almost as soon as he moved inside he was involved in Shaw's goal. Then he deftly put one on a plate for Marcus Rashford. 7

Donny van de Beek

Committed on a rare chance and there was one deft flick but his evening was prematurely ended by a nasty tackle. 6

Anthony Martial

Save for one piece of hold-up play, he hardly asserted himself and missed a good chance. Substituted and went straight down the tunnel. 5

Subs

Alejandro Garnacho

Won a free-kick at the start of the second half and soon teed up Shaw to make it 2-0. Hit the post. 7

Fred

Bright impact again. 6

Diogo Dalot

Drew a decent save. 7

Anthony Elanga

Miscued a shot. 5

Lisandro Martinez

Got a cult hero's welcome. 6

Manager

Made a couple of bold calls that were rendered moot by the final score. Was able to rotate in-game as well and rest Raphael Varane. 7
