Manchester United player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Raphael Varane good

David de Gea

His denial of Odsonne Edouard defied belief as he gloved the ball onto the crossbar. Also denied Marc Guehi in the second half. Well beaten by free-kick. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The renascent right-backs confidence was patent at his former club and Wan-Bissaka was more of a threat down the right than Antony. Tackle on Zaha denied Palace victory. 8

Raphael Varane

Allowed Edouard to test De Gea's agility but otherwise dominant in the duels - particularly aerially. 8

Lisandro Martinez

His line-breaking passing was an asset again on his first Premier League start in two months. Booked for a cynical tackle on Michael Olise. 7

Luke Shaw

Back at left-back and in such fine form Erik ten Hag instructed United to play down the left more often. Came under the cosh late on. 6

Casemiro

Adventurous as ever with the ball and alert as ever in his own third in another committed performance. Deservedly booked and suspended against Arsenal. 7

Christian Eriksen

Carried the ball forward and charged into the left-hand channel to coolly assist Bruno Fernandes. His vision was not always maximised by teammates. 7

Antony

Needlessly decelerated attacks and his frivolousness warranted a rollocking from Fernandes. United's weakest starter. 5

Bruno Fernandes

Scored clinically for the second game running, taking a touch and flawlessly guiding the ball past Vicente Guaita. 7

Marcus Rashford

Played the ball through to Eriksen in the move that led to Fernandes scoring. Greedy with the ball to the team's detriment and his scoring run came to an end. 5

Wout Weghorst

Linked the play tidily despite only having three training sessions with his new teammates. Had a header go over and came off in the 69th minute. 6

Subs

Scott McTominay

Could have been given a penalty. 5

Alejandro Garnacho

Passed up a good opportunity. 5

Fred

Came on to energise the midfield. 6

Manager

Rightly played square pegs in square holes after moving the pieces against City. The players were guilty of doing little with a lot of the ball and it cost them. 6
