As Manchester United continue to be linked with a host of strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, it is important to remember that Anthony Martial, albeit having struggled with injuries this season, is still the forward that Erik ten Hag is backing.
The Frenchman has endured a difficult campaign this term, making just 13 appearances in all competitions. The 27-year-old has made nine starts for United, with only six of those coming in the Premier League. He has, undoubtedly, been unfortunate with his injury issues, and with Cristiano Ronaldo having left the club in November it promised to be exactly the season he was hoping for.
In November, Ten Hag spoke about Martial being his first-choice striker. As it's happened, Marcus Rashford - who has been playing on the left wing - is the player that has scored the bulk of United's goals this season, but Martial, even in his limited showings, has demonstrated why the United boss still believes he can play an important role for the Reds.
