Manchester United make decision on Marcel Sabitzer for Crystal Palace fixture

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Marcel Sabitzer will be included in the squad for their Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

United signed Bayern Munich midfielder Sabitzer on loan for the remainder of the season on transfer deadline day and the Austria international has already trained with his new teammates.

Casemiro and Fred are likely to start at Old Trafford and Sabitzer could be on the bench, with Scott McTominay out for weeks and Christian Eriksen sidelined with an ankle injury until late April at the earliest.

"Very good," Ten Hag said of Sabitzer's training debut. "Of course, he did only one session but you can see he's a very fit player and I didn't have different expectations coming from Bayern Munich, German, their fitness is always good. I think he is ready to play.

"I think he's a really smart player and I think we gave him some guidance but he knows what to do, he knows the job."

United drew 1-1 at Selhurst Park on January 18 when Michael Olise scored an added-time free-kick in a week they dropped points at Palace and Arsenal by conceding late goals.

Ten Hag was unhappy with United's performance level in the reverse fixture and accused United of operating at 90%. "We have always to focus on the game, no matter what," Ten Hag added. "that is our job, that is why we are here. We have a lot to do against them.

"Two weeks ago we had a bad performance there, I wasn't happy with the performance from us, it was 90% focus and energy and we dropped two points. So we have to avoid that tomorrow.

"Tomorrow we need a better game, better focus in the game, but especially a better conduct in the way of play because we have to beat them, because that's quite clear.

"We know a lot [about] them, they know a lot about us, we were really unhappy with our game at Crystal Palace so I demand a much better performance than in London, so we have a good chance to win."
