Manchester United 'make Victor Osimhen decision' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have decided to look at alternatives to Victor Osimhen after learning of Napoli's £100million demands, it has been reported.

Erik Ten Hag's side have been linked with summer moves for a number of big-name forwards, with the United boss planning to revamp his frontline at the end of the season. The Reds have been monitoring Harry Kane's contract situation, although recent reports that the 29-year-old would consider staying in North London could nip that in the bud.

Another elite-level forward to have been linked with a move to M16 is Osimhen, the Nigerian forward whose 13 goals in 15 appearances has helped Napoli to a commanding 12-point lead at the top of Serie A. United were set to compete with Newcastle United and Arsenal for the striker's signature after seemingly making him the priority target.

According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the 24-year-old is still on United's radar, but they have removed him from the top spot on the shortlist after learning that they would need to break their transfer record to sign him. Luciano Spalletti's side are said to be demanding more than €100million (around £88million) for bids to even be considered.

Those in charge at Old Trafford are instead exploring 'cheaper solutions' to fill the gap that will be left by Wout Weghorst, who will likely leave once his half-season loan from Burnley - confirmed earlier this month - ends.

Elsewhere, fellow reported long-time United target Declan Rice is leaning towards joining Arsenal in the summer but the Reds are expected to keep their hat in the ring, according to the Guardian.

England international Rice is almost certain to leave West Ham in the summer, stepping up from what looks a likely relegation battle and into Champions League football. All of England's top sides have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, with Chelsea and Arsenal both understood to be keen.

The prospect of playing under Mikel Arteta is said to be swaying Rice towards the Emirates, although Ten Hag's side will stay in the running right up until it is either won or lost.

West Ham would hope to gain more than £100million from the sale of their club captain - which would be a record fee for an English player - although the final figure is expected to be closer to £80million.
