Manchester United 'learn' Arnaut Danjuma release clause and other rumours

Manchester United could sign Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma for £45million, according to reports.

The latest reports from Spain have suggested that his release clause is lower than the previously stated €75m (£63m). The Dutch winger tormented the United defence during the first Champions League group stage meeting at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Marca have reported that Danjuma will have a £45m release clause that becomes active in the summer. Previous reports have suggested that United scouts watched him during their triumph over Bayern Munich in Europe. The 25-year-old has 16 goals and four assists in all competitions this term.

Elsewhere, United's pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been handed a boost after rivals Manchester City reportedly distanced themselves from discussions.

De Jong's former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag will soon turn his attention to the Premier League and the task at hand at United. And the 52-year-old has wasted no time in highlighting his transfer targets, as United have already made contact with Xavi's side over a possible £75m move.

The Telegraph have now reported that City have stepped away from the pursuit of the Barcelona midfielder after conflicting reports suggested Pep Guardiola's side were monitoring the Dutch international's situation. The Blues previously targeted De Jong during his time under Ten Hag but suffered a blow as he opted for the Camp Nou.
