Manchester United keen on signing Tammy Abraham from Roma and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Tammy Abraham from AS Roma.

Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen on signing a new striker for his United side in the near future, as questions remain over Anthony Martial's fitness. The Frenchman enjoyed a superb pre-season as many thought he could spearhead the attack for the Reds this campaign, yet repeated issues with injury have sidelined the 26-year-old.

Cristiano Ronaldo has also been used infrequently by Ten Hag, with the majority of the 37-year-old's starts coming in the Europa League. Given Marcus Rashford's preference to cut in from the left-hand side, and Antony the opposite, this leaves United with a potential concern over the lack of a reliable central striker.

However, journalist Simon Phillips has now told GiveMeSport that United are keen on signing Abraham. After a the Reds spent £225million over the summer, it appears that any further spending will have to take place next summer, as a January move for the striker appears to be ruled out.

The former Chelsea forward has had a slow start to the season for Jose Mourinho's side, scoring just twice in 12 games across all competitions. Yet the 25-year-old has proven his goalscoring record in the past, and could soon be on the way to Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, HITC carry a report from Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws that United tried to sign Simon Mignolet during the summer transfer window.

Ten Hag opted to pursue a deal for Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a season-long loan instead, but now it appears that United may line-up a more permanent move for the former Liverpool shot-stopper.

The Belgian recently made the headlines after he kept a clean sheet for Club Brugge during their 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, as the 34-year-old made a crucial save at at the death to help his side claim a vital point.

United appear to have taken note of Mignolet's performance as it now appears a potential move is looming on the horizon.
