Manchester United join Arsenal in race to sign 'mystery winger' compared to Cristiano Ronaldo

Arsenal's transfer business this summer has been both quick and efficient. The Gunners started early, making five new signings before the end of pre-season with over £100million spent in the market.

Activity since has been quieter, with more focus geared towards potential exits and trimming down the squad ever since. That's not to say there won't be further additions though, with Mikel Arteta hinting at potential signings in a recent press conference.

"We are really active as you can see with incomings and outgoings," Arteta said ahead of the opening day victory against Crystal Palace. "Everything is still open, it’s a long window, a lot has happened, it’s incredible how much business the clubs have done across the Premier League and it shows how competitive it is and this season is not going to stop that."

One area of the pitch that may be looked at is depth and quality for the forward line, with reports stating they are eyeing a "mystery winger" in the market. football.london understands Arsenal still hold an interest in PSV winger Cody Gakpo, who has a desire to play in the Premier League in the future.

Another player recently linked with that role is Wolves forward Pedro Neto. The 22-year-old has struggled with injury in the past season, but his return to fitness has allowed him to show his ability for the Midlands club once again.

The Portuguese international isn't just on the radar of the Gunners though, as 90Min reports that Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign him by his agent Jorge Mendes. Wolves are said to be in need of a player sale this window following some big-money signings.

Neto could be a player with huge potential should he move to either side, with compatriot Ruben Dias comparing him to United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
