Manchester United have good and bad news on the injury front as the race for a top-four finish heats up.
A win over Brentford in midweek was good on their Premier League standing but bad for the treatment table as Luke Shaw has now been ruled out through injury. However, Christian Eriksen is back after almost three months out and Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to work on his fitness.
Elsewhere, three others continue to work on their rehabilitation.
Here’s the latest on Manchester United injuries.
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw was withdrawn during the first half of the midweek win over Brentford with an unknown injury, though was able to walk off the pitch and down the tunnel in a seemingly positive sign.
However, the left-back is out for the weekend clash with Everton and is a doubt for the week ahead. Ten Hag said: “Luke Shaw is not available and we have to see how it progresses in the coming week.”
Christian Eriksen
The midfielder is back in contention after shaking off an ankle injury picked up in January.
Ten Hag told reporters: "It was not for nothing I was so angry about that tackle [by Reading’s Andy Carroll]. It was a really bad tackle and a bad injury. I thought we lost him for the whole season. He is ahead of schedule and we are very happy with that."
He added: "He is progressing. He is now back in team training [on Thursday and Friday]. We have two sessions ... he will be back in the squad [to face Everton].
Potential return date: Saturday, April 8, 2023
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Wan-Bissaka missed the loss at Newcastle and win over Brentford through illness but is back in training and in contention to face Everton.
Potential return date: Saturday, April 8, 2023
Alejandro Garnacho
The youngster has been one of the most eye-catching stories of the season at United, but an ankle injury has curtailed his progress.
Ten Hag told reporters last month: “It will take weeks. He will be back before the end of the season. We can win a lot, so he has to be ready.”
Potential return date: April/May 2023
Tom Heaton
The goalkeeper has been sidelined for a number of weeks with an ankle injury.
Potential return date: May 2023
Donny van de Beek
The midfielder has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
