Manchester United injury news for Liverpool in full including Raphael Varane latest

Liverpool and Manchester United are both dealing with injury issues going into today’s match.

The Reds take on the Old Trafford club in the Premier League clash at Anfield this afternoon. Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to carry on from their midweek win over Wolves in the top flight.

Liverpool are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table, and are six points adrift of the top four places. The Reds also have two games in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara, Joe Gomez and Calvin Ramsay are all ruled out for today’s match. Man United will also have to deal with several injuries of their own.

Here is a look at the visitors’ full injury list and suspensions ahead of the game with Liverpool.

Raphael Varane injury latest - is he fit to face Liverpool?

Raphael Varane is reportedly set to have a late fitness test ahead of the clash against Liverpool.

According to the Mail Online, Varane will undergo a test this morning to see if he is fit to face the Reds. It has been reported that the France international has been complaining of leg pain in recent days, and will now go through an exam “after breakfast” today to determine if he is fit to play this afternoon.

It has been claimed that Man United are still hopeful that Varane will be fit and available to face Liverpool. However, the report adds that Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been “placed on standby” to be introduced should Varane be sidelined.

Other Man United injury news

Man United have several other injury concerns for the match.

Luke Shaw is expected to be fit in time to face Liverpool, after spending a short spell on the sidelines. The left-back missed Man United’s FA Cup win over West Ham in midweek.

Jadon Sancho is also expected to be available. The forward has been suffering from illness, but manager Erik ten Hag says that he thinks both Sancho and Shaw will be at his disposal against the Reds.

“I think we will have players back but I am not sure,” said Ten Hag on Friday.

“Luke Shaw was not available, so we expect him back. Sancho, yeah he was ill but you have to wait how that develops but yeah I think as well.”

Christian Eriksen is sidelined until the end of April at the earliest, after suffering from an ankle injury.

Donny van de Beek is also ruled out with a knee injury, which is also expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season. The former Everton loanee had surgery on the injury in January, and is still in the early stages of his recovery.

Anthony Martial is also sidelined for the clash against Liverpool with a hip injury. The France international has not played since Man United’s win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on February 1.

Suspended

Man United currently have no players who are suspended for the Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The Reds also have no players currently unavailable through suspension. In terms of the Champions League, though, Trent Alexander-Arnold is one yellow card away from receiving a one-game ban.

Darwin Nunez remains Liverpool’s only player to be shown a red card this season. He was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace back in August.
