Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic has praised both Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane following their performances for the Reds this season.
Defence has been a notable weak spot for United since the Sir Alex Ferguson era came to an end. Since Erik ten Hag's arrival in the north west, the Reds' defensive fortunes have improved dramatically.
Martinez was a new addition to the back line in the summer and has quickly cemented himself as a fans' favourite at Old Trafford. The United faithful are not the only ones who enjoy the Argentine's performances though.

Speaking to the i newspaper, Vidic raved about the displays the 25-year-old has put in since making the switch from Ajax. "Lisandro came just six months ago, so he did really well," the Serbian explained. He brings energy, he likes to defend. He seems like he’s enjoying playing in England.
"He was a great signing. Varane is an experienced player, he has a few issues with injuries but definitely I think there’s more to come from them.
"The more they play together the better the partnership will be. I’m really pleased with how Lisandro did when he joined the club.
"There were some issues, people were concerned if he could play in England, but as an ex-player and a defender I’m really happy with how he’s playing and especially that energy he gives to the team, that aggression and winning mentality."
