Manchester United fans sent wild as Barcelona 'prepare Frenkie de Jong farewell'

The excitement levels of Manchester United supporters increased once again after reports in Spain suggested Barcelona have already prepared a farewell video for Frenkie de Jong.

The Netherlands international, who joined Barcelona from Ajax back in 2019, is very close to sealing a big-money move to Old Trafford after United reached an agreement with the Spanish giants earlier this week. The Manchester Evening News understands that the Reds have agreed an initial fee of €65million (£56.14m) to sign the Dutchman.

Along with countryman Tyrell Malacia, De Jong is poised to become one of the first signings of the Erik ten Hag era. The United manager installed De Jong as his top transfer target in early May, and the Reds have been forced to play a patient game to now stand on the cusp of getting the deal over the line.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona have already prepared a farewell video for the midfielder, ahead of him leaving the Camp Nou to be reunited with Ten Hag. De Jong will be a sufficient upgrade on United's current central-midfield options, meaning his arrival will instantly strengthen the squad.

If United's supporters were not already excited enough by the news that the club has reached an agreement with Barcelona over a fee, they are even more excited now following the emergence of the report claiming the La Liga outfit is preparing its goodbye.
