Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's showdown with Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium this evening, making some interesting calls.
United, who progressed to the last-16 after topping Group F, will be going in search of a third successive victory following Sunday's entertaining 4-2 triumph over rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.
Rangnick, who took charge of just one of United's six group games, has made three changes to the side that won at the weekend.
Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford and Fred come into the side, meaning Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingard have dropped out.
Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot and Anthony Elanga have been named amongst the substitutes. However, Edinson Cavani, as confirmed by Rangnick yesterday, has been left out through injury once again.
Having made three changes to his side, the German will be hoping that it stands United in good stead as they look to secure an encouraging first-leg result, ahead of Atletico visiting Old Trafford next month.
Victor Lindelof looks set to start at right-back in the most surprising call made by Rangnick, with both Wan-Bissaka and Dalot named on the bench.
We've taken a look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Lindelof being set to play on the right of the backline.
As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Rangnick's decision to start Lindelof at right-back has attracted a wave of bemusement, especially with two recognisable right-backs on the bench.
United starting line-up: De Gea; Lindelof, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, Pogba, Fernandes; Rashford, Ronaldo, Sancho.
Substitutes: Heaton, Henderson, Bailly, Jones, Mata, Lingard, Dalot, Telles, Wan-Bissaka, Matic, Elanga, Mejbri.
