Manchester United fans have shown their excitement as Kobbie Mainoo starts for the first time since early October.
The England international will feature for the first time under Ruben Amorim, after returning from an injury that sidelined the midfielder for almost three months.
Mainoo has been an unused substitute in Amorim’s first two matches and will now look to impress his new manager as Manchester United face Everton at Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old last started for Manchester United in a 0-0 draw at Villa Park on October 6th and missed seven matchday squads through injury.
His place in the United side had been cemented after a run of strong performances, displaying maturity that exceeded his teenage years.
The youngster was a pivotal member under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman handing Mainoo his professional debut for the Red Devils.
His performances under the former United boss caught the eye and Mainoo was selected for England’s Euro 2024 squad during the summer.
Mainoo did not start the first two matches for England, but after starting in the final group stage match he was selected in the starting eleven in each of the knockout matches – including the defeat to Spain in the final.
United fans have made their thoughts known over Mainoo’s place in the starting eleven against Everton – as the teenager is a cult hero at Old Trafford already.
Amorim has made other huge decisions for United’s starting lineup, as Joshua Zirkzee leads the line for the Red Devils despite Rasmus Hojlund’s brace in the Europa League during the week.
Marcus Rashford also returns to the side after coming on as a substitute in the Europa League clash and the Englishman will be looking to score in consecutive Premier League games for the first time since March.
