Manchester United fans delighted as Alejandro Garnacho starts vs Sheriff Tiraspol

Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's penultimate Europa League Group E clash with Sheriff Tiraspol at Old Trafford this evening, making a handful of changes.

United, who won the reverse fixture 2-0 in Moldova last month, will be looking to build on Saturday's encouraging 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Casemiro headed home his first goal for the club deep into stoppage-time to rescue a fully deserved point.

It means that Ten Hag will be looking to see his side build on that performance and get back to winning ways this evening, as they aim to keep their hopes of winning Group E alive. The Dutchman, unsurprisingly, has decided to make some tweaks to the side that drew at Stamford Bridge five days ago, making four changes.

Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, who earns his first start of the season, and Cristiano Ronaldo have come into the side, meaning Raphael Varane, who faces several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have dropped out. Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek have returned from injury and are on the bench.

Meanwhile, Fred and Anthony Elanga are also among those to have been named on the bench. However, Anthony Martial remains unavailable through injury, and Rashford is on the bench.

Having made the decision to make four changes from the draw with Chelsea, Ten Hag will be hoping that those who have come into the side have the desired impact. It is the surprise inclusion of youngster Garnacho that has attracted the most attention from United's supporters in the immediate aftermath of the team news being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Ten Hag's decision to hand a first start of the season to the Argentine international.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Ten Hag's decision to hand Garnacho a starting berth has gone down really well with the fans. They have been itching to see the 18-year-old in action and he has got an opportunity to prove his worth this evening.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Ronaldo, Garnacho.

Substitutes: Dubravka, Heaton, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, Van de Beek, Iqbal, Pellistri, Elanga, Rashford, Sancho.

This evening's contest at Old Trafford gets underway at 8:00pm and you can follow all of the action on our live matchday blog, which you can access by clicking here.
