Manchester United 'discover' two rivals trying to sign David Raya and other transfer rumours

Manchester United will rival Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in a summer battle for David Raya, according to the Telegraph.

Brentford goalkeeper Raya has 18 months remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, his reluctance to sign a new deal set to pave the way for a departure come the end of the season. Spurs have long been linked with the 27-year-old as they look to find a replacement for Hugo Lloris, but a fine run of form has seen competitors come forward.

One of those is United, who are also in the market for a long-term successor to David De Gea. Erik Ten Hag's side are believed to be discussing an extension with the current No.1 which will run on significantly reduced terms to his current contract, but at 32 years old he will likely move on at some point in the next few years.

Ten Hag has made clear in the past his desire to have a goalkeeper who can play out from the back, and while De Gea has been much improved in that area recently, his Spanish compatriot at Brentford is widely regarded as one of the best in the league - so much so that Jurgen Klopp claimed in 2021 he should be wearing the No.10 shirt for the Bees.

With Raya's contract set to expire in 2024, this summer represents the final chance for Thomas Frank's side to demand anything close to the goalkeeper's valuation. The report adds that the final value will depend on the intensity of interest come summer, but any potential suitors expect to pay somewhere between £15-20million.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund have 'checked conditions' on a loan move for Anthony Elanga but will not make a concrete offer until they sell a winger, according to Sport1's Patrick Berger.

Elanga has seen first-team minutes dwindle this season, following the £86million arrival of Antony in the summer. The 20-year-old has started just five Premier League games, registering a single assist.

A number of clubs are interested in taking the Swedish international on loan, with Everton and Dortmund often named in reports. But while the German side have queried the terms of any potential move, they are yet to make an official approach.

Elanga signed a long-term deal back in 2021, keeping him at Old Trafford until at least 2026. Any move for the winger is expected to be temporary, with United keen on keeping him for the future.
