Manchester United defender Eric Bailly reacts to Ivory Coast's AFCON exit

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has taken to social media to respond following Ivory Coast's exit from the AFCON last night.

The Elephants lost 5-4 to seven time winners Egypt in Douala and were eliminated at the last 16 stage.

Bailly, who was recalled to the side following a head injury he sustained early in the tournament, saw his effort tipped on to the bar.

After 120 tense minutes with the scores locked at 0-0, the game was decided on penalties, with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah netting the deciding spot-kick.

Bailly has since taken to Instagram to share his thoughts following Ivory Coast's exit, expressing his 'disappointment and disillusionment.'

He began: ''Painful elimination from the Africa Cup on Nations. I am at a loss of words to describe my disappointment and disillusionment.

''Proud and grateful to have been able to compete in this competition surrounded by such a great team. Thanks to the supporters for being with us.

''We will rise again. The one who is the one is the best.''

Fellow countryman Amad, David de Gea and Jesse Lingard can be see in the comments section of the post, all of whom are seen to be sending their support to their fellow United team mate.

United return to action next weekend as they host Middlesborough in fourth round of this season FA Cup at Old Trafford.
