Samba contract plea
Nottingham Forest supporters are calling for the club to revisit contract negotiations with goalkeeper Brice Samba after apparently being dealt a blow in their reported transfer talks with Manchester United over a loan move for Dean Henderson.
The 25-year-old England international has been linked with a temporary switch to the City Ground this month, but that move is said to now not include the option to buy that could open up the possibility of bringing back James Garner once again. Those initial rumours emerged in light of reports that Samba, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract, has turned down an extension offer from the club.
Forest fans are hoping this reported change of stance from Man United may make the Reds redouble their efforts to retain their current 'keeper this summer instead. Here is a selection of the reaction to the latest Henderson update on our Forest news Facebook page and the Nottinghamshire Live comments section .
Henderson blow
Nottingham Forest appear to have suffered a blow linked to their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Transfers expert Fabrizio Romano reported the Reds are hoping to pull off a loan swoop for the one-cap England international with a view to a permanent £20m transfer. NottinghamshireLive understands the Reds are hoping to complete a transfer, with the suggestion being that Henderson is keen on the move after playing second fiddle to David de Gea.
But contrary to reports earlier in the week, The Athletic claim that there have been no discussions had between Forest and the Red Devils over the possibility of including an option or obligation to buy clause in a deal.
'Transfer battle' for Leicester man
Nottingham Forest will reportedly rival Everton for Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury this summer.
Central midfield is one area the Reds could do with adding players in after the departure of James Garner following his loan spell from Manchester United. The Reds are chasing 24-year-old Choudhury, whose Foxes contract is up for renewal next summer, according to The Mirror.
They add that Choudhury will be offered the opportunity to "reignite his career" having fallen down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium. The Loughborough-born midfielder featured just six times in the Premier League last term, falling behind the likes of Youri Tielemans, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Wilfried Ndidi and Boubakary Soumaré.
Forest 'confident' about contract talks
Nottingham Forest are reportedly 'confident' that talks with Brennan Johnson over a contract extension will be 'tied up soon'.
The 21-year-old completed his 66th match of the season while on international duty with Wales on Tuesday in what was a breakthrough season for club and country. Johnson finished the season on a high with back-to-back goals in Nations League matches against Belgium and the Netherlands.
Attention will now turn to club football and next season in the Premier League. Before the football kicks off in less than two months' time, Johnson's contract situation is one of the off-the-pitch issues that still remain unresolved at the City Ground.
