Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguay international had been one of United’s leading targets all summer and fee with Paris Saint-Germain was finally agreed earlier this week, months after the midfielder was said to have agreed terms with the Red Devils.
Ugarte is believed to have cost the club around £42m with a further £8m to come by way of various add-ons. Reports also suggest PSG have included a 10% sell-on clause into the deal, having come down on their initial valuation of the player.
Erik ten Hag had made the signing of a defensive midfielder a priority this summer, having already significantly strengthened in central defence and up front during a busy summer of signings at Old Trafford.
Ugarte only joined PSG last summer from Sporting CP and made 37 appearances for the French champions but has been allowed to leave as part of a significant overhaul under Luis Enrique.
