The 18-year-old has been in scintillating form when called upon this season, with Saturday's assist for Marcus Rashford in the 2-1 Manchester derby win the latest moment forcing calls for him to start. But despite a number of explosive substitute performances, the Argentine has started just two games in the Premier League.
That has set a number of clubs on high alert, not least the two Madrid giants.

Despite suggestions that a new offer was refused by the player's representatives, United are in advanced negotiations over a fresh contract and remain confident they can tie down their promising star.
Elsewhere, United are in 'advanced negotiations' with Fulham for their out-of-favour right-back Kevin Mbabu, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Mbabu joined Marco Silva's side in the summer for around £5million but has managed just seven appearances across all competitions, thanks in part to the form of Kenny Tete. The Cottagers are also said to be in talks to sign Cedric Soares from Arsenal, pushing Mbabu further down the pecking order.
The 22-cap Swiss international is also wanted by Monza, but the report adds that Ten Hag's side are at an advanced stage. The future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a point of speculation this month, but the injury to Diogo Dalot against Charlton handed the 25-year-old a chance that he seems to have grasped with both hands.
