Manchester United target Antony will be available for transfer this summer, according to veteran midfielder Daley Blind - if Ajax’s asking price is met.
The Amsterdam club veteran is confident that his team will put up a fight to keep their best players but is aware that Antony and top scorer Sebastian Haller may be subject to extra interest from Europe’s top clubs.
Speaking on Bij Andy in de auto, Blind stated: “A few players are already leaving on a free transfer, so I don't think Ajax will let players go that easily. You have to have a team next year that will compete again in the Champions League and for the title.
“If the right amount is paid for Haller or Antony, then Ajax will accept it, but I don't think Ajax want to sell many players. I hope most of them stay.”
Antony has shot to prominence in two seasons with Ajax, starring under Erik ten Hag who discussed the Brazilian’s future ahead of his move to United.
He recently stated: “If Antony were to go, it would be a loss for Ajax, because they have no one in the current squad who can take over his position.”
Last November he provided an insight on the player’s future, noting: “If you play a role in the Brazilian national team, it is clear that he will be pulled. From a sporting point of view, it is clear that he is an incredible talent. He is going through an incredibly beautiful development.”
Ajax players sent a special farewell message to Ten Hag after his departure in which Antony paid tribute to the manager’s impact on his career.
“Know that I will always stand with you if you need me,” said the player.
“I want to wish you all the best at your new club. I also want to thank you for everything you taught me. I am thankful all the opportunities and learning every day.”
