Raphael Varane has suggested there is still more to come from Manchester United after an impressive win against Tottenham.
Erik ten Hag decided to bench Cristiano Ronaldo against Tottenham after Sunday's goalless draw with Newcastle, which was the biggest pre-match talking point, but that brave call was vindicated by an outstanding team performance from United.
United began the game with impressive intent and their pressing of Tottenham was superb. Ten Hag's side deserved to be leading at half-time, but it didn't take long after the break for Fred to provide the breakthrough with a deflected effort.

Bruno Fernandes then extended the advantage in the 67th minute with a well-taken strike, which ensured United deservedly took the three points. It was the best performance of Ten Hag's tenure yet and another clean sheet in the Premier League.
Varane was also key in keeping Tottenham quiet and he reflected on the performance after the game. The centre-back spoke to MUTV and he admitted that United can improve by being more clinical, which suggests there is more to come.
"Maybe [the best performance under Ten Hag]," Varane said. "It was a very solid game, we created a lot of chances, we could have scored more goals, especially in the first half we created chances. I think the pressing was very good, with a good tempo.
"It was great teamwork tonight. We tried to press high up the pitch and it was a very good performance. I enjoy playing with him [Lisandro Martinez], he's a very good player, it's very good for the defence to keep a clean sheet, it's fantastic.
"We could see 11 players in the same tempo, very aggressive, very focussed on the game. He [Fred] was running a lot, he was very helpful for the team and he scored a goal, so very positive. Amazing atmosphere, it was very good, we really enjoyed it."
