Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes suspended for Europa League second leg vs Sevilla

Bruno Fernandes will be suspended for Manchester United return trip to Sevilla in their Europa League quarter-final tie after being booked in Thursday's home clash with the Spaniards.

The midfielder picked up a yellow card in the 41st minute for a harsh handball on the edge of the box with United 2-0 up thanks to a first-half brace from Marcel Sabitzer.

Competition rules dictate that players who receive three yellow cards before the semi-finals earn a one-match ban for the next game. These get wiped after the quarter-finals but should a player receive a third yellow card in the second leg of the last eight they will miss the first leg of the semi-finals.

Fernandes has now racked up 12 yellow cards this season, averaging a caution just over every four matches. He missed November's 3-1 loss to Aston Villa due to a yellow card accumulation suspension.

Casemiro went into the match also one caution away from missing the trip to Seville. The Brazilian has already missed eight games through suspension this season.

He returned to the line-up on Thursday night after coming back from a domestic four-game ban following his red card against Southampton last month.

He also sat out three games after being dismissed against Crystal Palace for violent conduct having missed January's clash with Arsenal after picking up five yellow cards in United's first 19 Premier League games.
