A pub in Manchester city centre has caught the attention of passers-by by rebranding itself as a husband day care centre.
Signs have appeared outside The Circus Tavern, on Portland Street, jokingly suggesting people can ‘leave your husband with us’ as they have some alone time or go shopping nearby.
The pub says it will ‘look after’ husbands on the one condition that you ‘pay for his drinks’.

The sign reads: “Husband day care centre. Need time to yourself? Need time to relax? Need to go shopping? Leave your husband with us! We look after him for you! You only pay for his drinks!”
It’s believed the signs were put up last month, with one person sharing a photo on social media of the signs alongside the caption: “Love it!”. Another post of the sign was captioned: 'Well I never', whilst another simply said: "Lolzzz".
Built in 1790, The Circus Tavern is one of the oldest pubs in Manchester and it is also the smallest in the city. Signs dotted around the venue also claim that it's one of the smallest in Europe, with memorabilia and t-shirts available to buy marking the claim to fame.
The building was granted Grade II-listed status in 1994. It also owns a blue plaque to mark it being a Tetley Heritage Inn. Owner Barry Hayes has been behind the pub for more than 12 years.
Last year, Barry said he was locked in a row over rent with the pub’s landlords, Star Pubs & Bars, which is owned by brewing giant Heineken. He claimed that the landlords told him he owed more than £90,000 for running the pub during the lockdown, despite being closed and unable to operate.
