The city centre will soon be flooded once again by spectators as thousands of runners prepare to take part in the Manchester Marathon.
In what is often held as the second-largest marathon in the UK by distance and one of the top five most popular in Europe, the event will be taking place on Sunday, April 16. The popularity of the event is expected to bring in a record number of attendees, with almost 28,000 people believing to take part.
However, due to the sheer size of the event, commuters going through the city over the weekend will likely experience a range of disruptions on the road due to road closures. The Marathon organisers have confirmed there will a series of road closures along this year's route.

Any commuters going through town have been advised to plan for extra time for any journeys they plan to make while bus services will likely be diverted. On Sunday, roads will be closed from 3am and wont reopen until 2pm following the end of the marathon.
It is understood that the last road closure is expected to be re-opened at 8pm through Chorlton and Old Trafford near the end of the course. Despite this, a stretch of Talbot Road will also be closed from 10am on Saturday and won't re-open until much later at midnight on Sunday.
