Preamble
Hello and welcome to another Saturday clockwatch. Today we have seven FA Cup fourth round games to enjoy, including Manchester City v Salford City and Burnley v Mansfield Town at 3pm.
Manchester City will be aiming for a repeat of their victory over Salford City last season. Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed their League Two neighbours 8-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, the only previous meeting between the two clubs. Karl Robinson’s side have already one upped themselves this year by qualifying for the fourth round of the FA Cup at the first time in their history.
Meanwhile, Burnley will be keen to build on their 3-2 win against Crystal Palace earlier this week. Scott Parker said the win has “lifted the mood” for the club sitting 19th in the Premier League. Mansfield Town find themselves in the opposite situation, coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat against Peterborough. The loss was the League One side’s first of 2026, with manager Nigel Cough criticising their “wasteful” first half.
We’ll also have updates from the rest of the FA Cup games and the Football League action. As always, feel free to get in touch with me. Let’s go!
