Extra accommodation provisions for people sleeping on Manchester's streets have been opened as temperatures plunge below freezing.
Teams will be out on the city streets encouraging those sleeping rough to accept offers of accommodation during the incoming cold snap, according to Manchester City Council.
They today confirmed that cold weather measures are in place throughout the winter months to help rough sleepers off the street. Bosses say they invite those sleeping rough off the streets all year round, but 'strongly encourage' people to accept assistance as freezing temperatures are expected.

Councillor Joanna Midgley, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council said: "We invite people in off the streets all year round, but when the temperature is below freezing, as is predicted for the next five days, we know that some people who might normally be very reluctant to accept help are more likely to come in out of the cold and accept our offer of accommodation and support and we would strongly encourage them to do this."
She highlighted that the council provides additional accommodation from November to April in order to support vulnerable people sleeping on the city streets.
"We provide additional accommodation throughout the winter months to ensure the most vulnerable people have access to accommodation and the support they need to help them stay off the streets," she added.
"Teams from the council and its partners will continue to be out on the streets encouraging people to come in out of the cold. If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough, please report it here: https://www.streetlink.org.uk/ ".
