Manchester Airport has issued holidaymakers a warning as millions of people suffer disruption as the largest rail strike for a generation cripples Britain's train services.
Only a fifth of trains are running on Tuesday and half of lines are closed as around 40,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union at Network Rail and 13 train operators have walked out.
Services to Manchester Airport are amongst those impacted. In a statement online, Manchester Airport advised passengers to use alternative methods of transport.
