A Manali resort that turned away a guest despite a confirmed booking, leaving him stranded after a journey from Gurgaon, has been ordered to pay Rs 31,000 by a Gurgaon consumer commission. The court rejected the resort's defence that returning the advance payment was enough to close the matter, ruling that the mental agony of being left without shelter in an unfamiliar place cannot simply be refunded away.
