Former Newcastle United target Paulo Fonseca is among the favourites to replace Bruno Lage at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Just one win in 15 games has forced the Molineux hierarchy to pull the trigger on the Portuguese manager after 16 months in charge.
Lage guided Wolves to a top-10 finish in May but cracks appeared to show towards the back end of the campaign. Their only victory so far came on September 3 against Southampton when Daniel Podence’s strike was enough to secure all three points.
After weeks of speculation, Lage finally lost his job following an uninspired performance in the capital. Despite dominating possession, the Hammers proved far more clinical in front of goal to brush Wolves aside.

In his post-match interview yesterday, the 46-year-old apologised to the travelling away support for another dismal showing.
"The only thing I can say is that I'm sorry about the situation," Lage said. "We've tried to solve these little problems we have and at the moment we aren't getting points or goals, but we are working hard for them."
Now, Fonseca - also Portuguese - is priced at 7/1 to become the new Wolves boss. The current Lille manager was interviewed for the Newcastle job before Eddie Howe was appointed last November.
He reportedly wowed Amanda Staveley over Zoom but PIF supremo Yasir Al-Rumayyan swayed more towards Howe. Other candidates for the vacant post are Julien Lopetegui and Pedro Martins (4/1). Ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche is also valued at 8/1.
