Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira insists Nottingham Forest have paid £18 million to sign Danilo.
The Reds reached an agreement with the Brazilian side to sign the 21-year-old last week, and he was set to arrive on Trentside over the weekend to complete his medical. Danilo recently posted an emotional farewell video on his social media, thanking Palmeiras for his five years at the club.
As expected, he was absent from Palmeiras' goalless home draw against Sao Bento on Saturday, and Ferreira addressed his exit post-match. "They [Nottingham Forest] offered 20 million [euros] to sign Danilo," the Portuguese boss said. "You pay for quality. Last year, I said that if no one left, no one would arrive.

"As it turns out, someone of quality has to come in. And quality costs money. Of course, we have to chase reinforcements.
"Palmeiras is a responsible club, which has financial goals and sporting goals. The financial goals are practically met. Now, we have to meet the sporting goals as well."
