A man has been jailed after he punched and strangled his partner after calling her a 'fat s**g' a court has heard. Gregory Cashmore and his girlfriend got into an argument in the early hours of June 4 before falling asleep, only for the row to continue when they woke up, with him becoming extremely violent.
The 34-year-old hit her in the face, causing her nose to bleed, and put his hands around her neck, StokeonTrentLive reports. Stoke-on-Trent court heard the victim was able to run out of the house and call for help.
Cashmore has now been put behind bars for 22 months. Prosecuting, Alison Whalley, said: "The next morning he called her a s**g and fat. There was a struggle. He straddled her on the bed. He punched her. She was bleeding from the nose and blood was running down her face.
