A man who lost his partner in the Manchester Arena bombing has spoken on his ongoing grief in the wake of the inquiry into the tragedy concluding. Paul Price's partner Elaine McIver was one of the 22 people killed in the terror attack in 2017.
He suffered serious injuries himself and was in a coma for two weeks. He went on to spend eight months in hospital.
Paul spoke on Friday's edition of Good Morning Britain. He was speaking the morning after the final inquiry into the incident found the bomber could have been stopped if MI5 had acted on key intelligence. MI5's Director General Ken McCallum has expressed his "deep regret" after the inquiry - and Paul told broadcasters Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard the findings are devastating, reports the Liverpool ECHO.
Paul, from Liverpool, said: "Following the inquiry, I knew there were failings and it's good the chairman has highlighted it. Hearing it and seeing it in black and white is devastating to think it might not have possibly happened and it's hard to hear."
Paul said he would never be able to move on from Elaine's death, adding: "She was amazing. She was someone who you'd meet and she'd put you at ease. You felt like you'd known her all your life. You felt like you could tell her everything.
"She was an organiser and used to organise me and I need organising. To me, she was my world and I still can't believe she's gone."
Presenter Kate Garraway was visibly emotional and branded the findings as "devastating" and "tragic". The broadcaster offered words of support as she said: "The fact that you've got those incredible memories, hopefully in time will be something you can think of, treasure and take comfort in."
