A man who left his partner of 10 years for a Ukrainian refugee who had moved in with them says they have now split up, four months on. But his ex says she wouldn't take him back 'in a million years', according to reports.
Tony Garnett, 30, left partner Lorna Garnett for Sofiia Karkadym 10 days after she arrived. Four months on he says they have now broken up, reports MailOnline. The Sun says Lorna has told her friends she would not take Tony back 'in a million years'.
Speaking about Sofiia, Tony told MailOnline: "I am 100 per cent through with her. We are finished as a couple."
He added: "I left Lorna and my two children for her, and I made every extra effort I could to help her keep us together. I worked so hard to make this relationship work. I knew that we would look like tw*ts if we broke up because we have a media profile and all the attention that has been put on us on television and on the internet."
He said: "I have made a mistake going into a relationship with Sofiia."
Sofiia arrived at the Garrett's household in Bradford, West Yorkshire, on May 4 after fleeing the city of Lviv, which was under attack from Russian President Vladimir Putin's troops.
She left behind her divorced parents, her stepfather and younger sister Elizabeth, aged 13.
Tony first picked Sofiia up from Manchester Airport, which is around 50 miles from their Bradford home. The first thing Tony did was take her to a drive-thru McDonald's for a Big Mac, and the pair hit it off within days, realising they had a connection.
Lorna was left devastated when her partner left with her and says her life has been "shattered" by the ordeal.
