Man who had penis on his arm for six years finally has it re-attached

A man had to live with his penis on his arm for six years after it fell off. Malcolm MacDonald, 47, suffered from a dreadful infection that caused his penis to turn black and it fell off in the toilet. Doctors managed to save Malcolm's member but due low oxygen levels they had to graft it onto his arm rather than his groin.

He said he endured a lengthy wait to have it back between his legs because of a mix of hospital delays and the Covid pandemic - and in the ensuing period having to cover up his manhood with long sleeved tops and being extra careful when hugging people.

He discussed the ordeal on a new Channel 4 documentary - The Man With The Penis On His Arm. Malcolm said: "Can you imagine six years of your life with a penis swinging on your arm? It’s been a nightmare, but it’s gone now — the little b****r.’ The worst thing is when you cuddle your nan at Christmas and it hits her in the eye.”

Former drug addict Malcolm, who ended up living on the streets after his girlfriend dumped him, described how he ended up popping a re-appearing perineal abscess in 2010. He recalled: "Penis went black. I went to the toilet and it fell off."

The Man With The Penis On His Arm airs on Channel 4 on Tuesday, May 3rd (Channel 4)

When doctors offered Malcolm a phalloplasty and the chance of a new six-inch penis, he was given fresh hope. However, what followed was a six-year wait for Malcolm's penis to be moved to the correct place. He said in the interim period, he felt like a "shell of a man".

However, he hopes he has now reached a turning point in his life after a successful nine-hour operation which saw his member reattached between his legs.

Discussing his ordeal in a new Channel 4 documentary, he said: ‘"The first thing I did was look down and I was like, 'Oh my days. They got it this time'. I feel like a real man again."

His new penis was created by Professor David Ralph at London's University College Hospital, who made it out of flesh from the Malcolm's arm. Eventually, it's said he will be able to prepare it for sex thanks to a pump in his scrotum which will fill it with a saline solution.

While the events of the past few years have been an ordeal for Malcolm, the dad admits he has tried to see the funny side of it - and even learned how to tuck his darts under his penis while it was on his arm.

He quipped: "I get it. It’s not every day you see a man with a penis on his arm. Of course I see the funny side – I have to. I don’t have any other option. If I couldn’t laugh at the willy on my arm, I’d be finished’.

Malcolm's story is one of three in the documentary about men who have either had phalloplasty or are awaiting it. One of the main themes of the Channel 4 documentary is whether having a penis makes you a man. The topic is the subject of debate amongst all three men. For Malcolm - his journey towards surgery has been one that he says he will be "able to tell the grandchildren."

The Man with a Penis on His Arm is set to air on Channel 4 at 10.05pm on Tuesday .
