A man had to be rescued by a helicopter after becoming trapped in the mud and left unable to move his ankles.
HM Coastguard were called out to the incident in Kidwelly Quay, in Carmarthenshire, at 3.27pm on Saturday after the man was unable to free himself from mud flats near the Gwendraeth River .
Team from Burry Port and and Llansteffan were tasked with carrying out the rescue but the person was too far inland, around 400m, to be reached by the crews.
A Coastguard helicopter from St Asaph had to be called to rescue the man, who fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries.
A spokesman from HM Coastguard said: "We received a call from the casualty himself, he called 999 and said he was stuck in the mud near the Gwendraeth River...
"He was only up to his ankles but he didn't want to make any further movement in case he got stuck.... He left all well and good."
In 2016, a
horse became trapped in the mudin Kidwelly Quay and a team of 12 people were needed to rescue the animal.
