A man who repeatedly dangled a three-week old baby upside down by the ankles in a shocking video has been arrested by gardai.
The disturbing footage was shared on social media yesterday before being deleted.
It’s understood the incident was filmed at a residence in the north east.

During the sickening three-minute clip the man can be seen repeatedly dangling the baby upside down by the ankles before flipping him over like a rag doll.
At one point he picks the newborn up by its babygrow and swings the infant dangerously in circles with its head unsupported.
The video, which begins innocently, takes a dark turn when the man grabs him by the feet turning him upside down.
He then lays the baby back down and the woman is heard saying “oh he’s adorable look at his legs” before the man again dangles the child in the air upside down.
A woman says “dear god in heaven” nervously before saying “don’t baptise the child like that whatever you do”.
The man again grabs the child by the feet again and dangles him before lifting him up and down four times saying “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
The woman says “You are a bad b****** do you know that? You are a bad b******”.
She continues filming as the man takes the baby again by the feet and starts swinging him from front to back as the woman laughs out loud repeatedly. The woman then says “stop, stop, I’m going to send this to your sister” and the man puts the baby down and is heard saying “I love ya” before cuddling him.
He snuggles the baby and then says “he’s scared of me” but the woman says “Ah he’s not scared of you he loves ya”.
She then said: “He’s not scared of you, he’s a hero”.
The man then grabs the baby’s onesie at the neck and lifts him with one hand before playing with him again.
The film shows the man laying the child down before leaning over him, grabbing him again by his baby grow and lifting him up in the air.
The woman says the video is “making her so happy” adding “he looks like you now”.
The man then picks him up again by the baby grow at his chest and swings him around in circles by his clothes while his head is hanging backwards.
The woman becomes slightly more firm and says “stop that’s not funny even though I’m laughing, ah that’s dangerous”.
Gardai confirmed to the Irish Sunday Mirror that the man has been arrested. It’s understood the baby boy has been taken into care.
A spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating an incident of alleged child neglect in the North East of the country.
“A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident.
“Due to the sensitive nature of this incident no further details can be disclosed at this time.”
When contacted Tusla, the child and family agency, said it was not in a position to comment.
