Man who caused neighbours 'panic' and 'anguish' kicked out of house

A man who caused "panic" and "anguish" to his neighbours has been kicked out of a house.

Police said the 36-year-old man, who lived in a house on Lugsdale Road, Widnes, was well known to officers. The man's activity included anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and drug related activity.

A "sense of panic" among neighbours was created by the man and people who visited the house, police said. Some people were hesitant to contact police through fear of a response from him.

But now the house has been shut down after officers were granted a closure order on Wednesday at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 26. The order will will run for three months.

Officers from Widnes partnered with the Halton Housing Trust, who own the property on Lugsdale Road, to encourage people in living in the area to come forward and provide evidence against their disruptive neighbour.

The man has since been ordered to leave the property and find alternative accommodation, with all windows and doors being boarded up. Anyone who enters the address during that time will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.

Police Constable Gary Ellison, Beat Manager for Riverside, Widnes, said: “The residents have been incredibly supportive and are extremely grateful for the closure – without them we would not have secured this result that we have today.

“Officers at Widnes Beat Team made a promise to keep this neighbourhood and its residents safe, and by removing this resident who has caused them nothing but distress for the past 18 months, we have kept that promise. I want to urge anyone with concerns about ASB or other criminality in their community to please contact local officers and we will do everything we can to address these issues and achieve justice.”

Anyone with concerns about anti-social or suspicious behaviour in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or call 101.
