Man who built 'blockade' to stop parents on school run now 'famous'

A man who built a blockade to stop people parking on his street said people have now travelled miles to see him.

Derek Woodacre said since the news broke that his roadblock had been removed he has now become "famous". Since starting this battle with parents doing the school drop off at St John’s Primary School in Wigan years ago, the 65-year-old said he became notorious within the area.

But this has now expanded to outside the area. Derek said he has had people "in tears of laughter" telling them about his plans for the future, reports the Manchester Evening News. He said: “People drive past Manchester and are coming to see me and burst out laughing.
