Man who broke down in Ukrainian refugee centre returns to Liverpool

A man broke down in tears after visiting a Ukrainian refugee centre in Poland.

Three Liverpool men travelled to a refugee camp in the city of Rzeszow, Poland, 100km from the border of Ukraine, to deliver supplies to those in need. The group, organised by Transalpino owner Brendan Wyatt, raised over £15,000 with help from the people of Liverpool as well as ex-LFC players Jerzy Dudek and Vladimír Šmicer.

The devastating effects the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has had on the refugees caused one of the men, Rado Chmiel - a community service interpreter living in Liverpool, to be overcome with emotion. He felt that the experience was "very scary" as he could see the anti-air defences set up in preparation for an attack on the area.
