Man watering median plants hit by car, dies in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A contract worker of a private company entrusted with road maintenance work was killed when he was hit by a car while watering the plants on the median at Road Number 2, Banjara Hills, on Thursday.

Ch Kiran (23) of NBT Nagar in Banjara Hills was working for the private company entrusted with road maintenance work by the GHMC. Kiran and water tanker driver Madhu Devda were watering the plants on the median on Road No. 2 in the early hours of Thursday. While Madhu was driving the tanker, Kiran was holding the hose and watering the plants while standing on the road, Banjara Hills inspector K Nageshwar Rao said.

Near an electronics showroom, a cab coming from Nagarjuna Circle towards Hi-tec City hit Kiran from behind. “The cab driver, Janaiah, was on his way to Hi-tec City to pick up employees. The mishap seems to have occurred when the driver accidentally dozed off,” the inspector said.

A case under IPC section of causing death by negligence was registered.
