Ever wanted to live off just Subway sandwiches? For one Twitch streamer, this is a reality.
Sean Clancy, known by his username SubwaySean, last month set out to walk across the United States with a unique twist - he’s only allowed to eat food sold at Subway. In one of the quirkiest social media challenges to date, The Great American Subway walk began on May 1st in Boston, Massachusetts, and is set to end at the Santa Monica pier in California.
The self-described travel enthusiast is currently 45 days into the challenge and is on his way to the Midwestern state of Indiana, fueled only by sub sandwiches from one of the country’s 22,005 stores (correct as of 2020).
Sean aims to share his journey with his community on Twitch whenever he reaches a new location. With his streams sometimes spanning over three hours, Sean continues to grow in popularity with over thousands of viewers watching them.
A Twitch spokesperson said: “SubwaySean’s trip across America is so unique and his community of loyal followers love to watch his travels across the country eating at various Subways. The Twitch community is unbelievably creative in the content they produce and Sean is just one example of the innovative and quirky streams found on the service.”
The Travel & Outdoor category, which saw a huge 72% increase in views in the first quarter of 2022, is home to SubwaySean’s expedition alongside many other creators live-streaming their interesting trips. Others include:
- Expat_malgre_lui who is filming their road trip across Thailand
- Eve Bonnet who is cycling across the English countryside
- miki_Tokyo who tries different food across the city of Tokyo
