Former Nottingham Forest loanee James Garner is reportedly 'expected to leave' Manchester United before the end of the summer transfer window, with Everton and Southampton 'showing interest'.
The England under-21 international was left out of the matchday squad for Monday night's meeting with Liverpool after being an unused substitute for Man United's first two matches of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. This comes after Garner featured for Erik ten Hag's side during pre-season, starting against Rayo Vallecano in their final friendly.
Forest supporters were left baffled by the midfielder being left off of the bench earlier this week, with some suggesting that they would welcome a return to the City Ground before the end of this month. It was also proposed that a transfer being in the offing could be the reason behind it.

That may be closer to the truth with transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that Premier League rivals Everton and Southampton are 'both showing interest' in Garner. Romano adds that while there has been 'no agreement or decision made' it is expected that he will leave Old Trafford 'in the next days'.
Reports from The Athletic earlier on Wednesday state that the Merseyside club have 'stepped up their interest' and are 'in discussions' regarding a move for the midfielder. They also add that Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Southampton, are 'admirers' while Man United's asking price is apparently £14million.
