Man Utd Transfer Rumours: Amorim Eyes £84 Million Sporting Star

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Sporting CP youngster Geovany Quenda.

The 17-year-old sensation, who recently earned his first senior national team call-up, could become a key signing for United as the club look to rebuild under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Amorim, who officially took charge at United earlier this month, is gearing up for his first match as manager when they face Ipswich this weekend.

With the January transfer window still weeks away, Amorim must work with the squad he inherited from predecessor Erik ten Hag. However, the summer window is expected to be a different story.

United’s new leadership under Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly taking a cautious approach to the January transfer market but are preparing to back Amorim significantly next summer.

Quenda, who emerged as a standout talent at Sporting under Amorim, is seen as a priority target.

Man Utd Interested In Geovany Quenda

Quenda has quickly become one of the most sought-after young talents in European football. His meteoric rise under Amorim at Sporting caught the attention of top clubs across the continent.

The forward’s current contract includes a £84 million (€100m) release clause, making any potential deal a substantial investment.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Sporting are unlikely to entertain offers below £33.5m (€40m) for the teenager.

United’s longstanding interest in Quenda, coupled with Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, positions the club as a front-runner in the race to secure his signature.

Quenda’s National Team Breakthrough

Quenda’s rapid development has been further escalated after receiving his first senior call-up to Portugal’s national team, filling a gap left by the suspension of Bruno Fernandes.

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez expressed confidence in the young forward’s abilities, emphasising his importance ahead of their remaining Nations League matches.

“There’s a World Cup finals in 18 months. The game against Croatia is important, we need to look at other players,” said Martinez.

United Eyeing Sporting’s Gyokeres Too?

In addition to Quenda, United are also reportedly monitoring Viktor Gyokeres, Sporting’s prolific Swedish striker.

However, Ruben Amorim has downplayed the possibility of raiding his former club during the January window, keeping the focus on the players currently available to him.

“I won’t be signing [Sporting players] in January,” Amorim told reporters. “I don’t know about the summer. The main thing is to hold on until the summer.”

For fans tracking Manchester United transfer rumours, the next few months will be crucial as the club looks to position itself as a dominant force in European football once again.

Keep an eye on developments regarding Geovany Quenda and other potential targets as United’s recruitment drive gathers momentum.
