Man Utd transfer round-up: Denzel Dumfries asking price as Thomas Meunier sets demands

Manchester United are keen to sign a new right-back in January and have discovered what they must stump up if they wish to sign two of their targets.

The Red Devils were linked with Denzel Dumfries and Thomas Meunier in the summer but spent their money elsewhere in the squad, leaving Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their options on the right of defence. However, in a pair of updates which could tempt United chiefs once again, Inter Milan have set their asking price for Dumfries, while Meunier has set his one demand should he opt to move to the North-West.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Old Trafford…

Inter set Dumfries asking price

Dumfries only moved to San Siro in August 2021 but could be on the move just 18 months later if United decide to meet Inter’s asking price in January.

The Netherlands international has been impressive for the Oranje at the 2022 World Cup over the last two weeks, particularly in their 3-1 defeat of the USA in the last 16 as he grabbed a goal and two assists.

With interest in the right back growing, Calciomercato have reported that Inter have slapped a €50million (£43m) price tag on Dumfries in the hope of deterring any potential suitors next month.

Meunier sets United demand

Borussia Dortmund right-back Meunier has revealed that he will move to United on one condition, should the Red Devils attempt to secure his signature in 2023.

The Belgian international has become one of the highest rated right backs across European football in recent seasons and it would appear that he is willing to move on to pastures new, despite having made just 73 appearances in all competitions in Germany since signing from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.

According to Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Bible, Meunier will only consider a move to Old Trafford if Barcelona do not come calling first. With Hector Bellerin failing to make the required impact since signing from Arsenal last summer, the Catalan outfit could look to make a move and dent United’s hopes.

Rashford backed to extend deal

Marcus Rashford could be set to sign a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has turned his fortunes around with the Red Devils this season, scoring eight goals and grabbing three assists in 15 club games to earn a place in England’s World Cup squad.

As a reward for his fine form, a report in Give Me Sport claims Rashford will be handed an extension before the Red Devils are forced to activate the one-year extension option in his contract next summer.
