Manchester United are running out of time to bring in more fresh faces to the squad ahead of transfer deadline day in two weeks’ time, but there are plenty of names floating around that the club are being linked with nonetheless.
With the Frenkie de Jong saga all but at an end, United have identified alternatives and one of those is Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, who could yet sign for Erik ten Hag’s side. Elsewhere, the Red Devils are said to be ‘actively pursuing’ Barcelona ’s Sergino Dest, while Marseille are in talks to sign Eric Bailly.

Nice midfielder eyed as alternative
United are desperate for a new central midfielder to bolster their ranks this season and even more so after two defeats to open the new Premier League campaign, and according to reports in France, Nice’s Khephren Thuram could be near the top of Ten Hag’s list.
As reported by Media Foot, the Red Devils are one of the clubs who are interested in the 21-year-old after he impressed in Ligue 1 last season with four goals and three assists in 36 appearances as they finished fifth and qualified for the Europa Conference League play-offs.
The report also states that, while Thuram may not be the United’s priority signing in midfield, he ‘remains a profile studied very closely’ as the Red Devils weigh up their options for the remaining two weeks of the summer transfer window.

United actively pursuing Sergino Dest
United are after a new right back this summer as they look to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka and find an upgrade on current first choice Diogo Dalot, with neither of the pair deemed sufficient enough by Ten Hag to operate on a consistent basis in his side.
And that has led them to Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, with talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claiming that the Red Devils are now ‘actively pursuing’ the United States international, who has previously worked under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax and could be in favour of reuniting with his former boss.
The 21-year-old struggled with injuries last season and made just 21 appearances in La Liga for the Catalan outfit, but as Barcelona’s only natural right back, they may be reluctant to let him go unless they can secure a replacement before the transfer window closes.
Marseille in talks to sign Eric Bailly
United defender Eric Bailly is fully expected to depart Old Trafford this summer after falling further down the pecking order at centre back following Lisandro Martinez’s arrival this summer, which currently sees him as fifth choice in Ten Hag’s side this season.
Having already been linked with moves to the likes of Fulham and Roma this summer, Bailly is now being strongly targeted by Ligue 1 outfit Marseille and according to the Manchester Evening News, they have opened talks with the Ivorian over the possibility of a move.
United will be hoping to offload Bailly on a permanent basis as they seek extra funds to put towards further transfer targets this month, but his hefty wages have already proved a stumbling block in negotiations with other clubs this summer, meaning he may have to agree to a wage cut to seal a move.
