Man Utd to seal €50m transfer by Friday after shock U-turn and Liverpool meet €70m star as release clause ends in hours

The latest transfer news from the Premier League and around the world on Wednesday, June 28.

Star to be Man Utd player by Friday

Gazzetta dello Sport report Inter Milan keeper Andre Onana could become a Manchester United player by Friday.

Both clubs want a quick resolution to the deal, with talks having taken place in Ibiza between Inter sporting director Piero Ausilo and Man Utd director of football operations David Harrison.

The Europeans giants have "agreed on tight timing to close the deal" for Onana and comes hot on the heels of United's stunning U-turn over David de Gea's new deal at Old Trafford.

A contract was on the table for the Spaniard with a drastically reduced salary, which he was set to agree to before United "backed out" of the deal.

His replacement is now being lined up and a deal could be sorted in the next 48 hours, say Italian reports. Separate reports via Corriere Della Sera state that Erik ten Hag will put a €50million offer on the table - a bid which is "impossible to refuse" for Inter.

Liverpool meet with Szoboszlai

The Athletic report Liverpool have met with the camp of RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

The 22-year-old's representatives discussed a move with the Reds over a summer transfer, with a €70million release clause in his contract set to expire on June 30, reports Fabrizio Romano in a separate article.

The Athletic add that there is an "acceptance within the club that it will be a very difficult deal to get done" but that he is "high in Liverpool's thinking" this summer.

Szoboszlai has been capped 32 times by Hungary and is the latest midfielder to be linked with a move to Anfield - with Khephren Thuram and Romeo Lavia also on the Reds' radar.

Arsenal given free run at Rice

Arsenal have been given a free run at signing Declan Rice after Manchester City pulled out of the race.

Both the Gunners and City had submitted £90million bid for the West Ham star - albeit structured differently - which were rejected by the east Londoners.

Mikel Arteta's side have returned with a £100million offer plus £5million in add-ons which is believed to be far closer to the Hammers' wishes.

City have let it be known they won't be matching Arsenal's offer, meaning the midfielder is looking likely to head across London to the Emirates in what would be a record fee for a British player. The Guardian report a deal could be done today.

He would become Arsenal's second signing of the summer, with Chelsea's Kai Havertz expected to be unveiled as a new Gunner imminently.

Toon rival big guns for Portugal star

Giovanni Di Lorenzo is attracting interest from Newcastle United.

Reports in Italy via Spazio Napoli state Eddie Howe is "looking carefully" at Napoli’s Di Lorenzo, but the Magpies also have an eye on Portuguese star Gonçalo Inacio.

The problem they are likely to encounter is that Arsenal and Liverpool are also tracking the Sporting Lisbon man, with Spanish publication AS stating Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign the centre-back in January. The Reds will "again try to close" a deal for the Portugal international before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign

An offer of around €45million would be acceptable.

Chelsea to 'attack' talks

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are now ready to "attack" a deal to take Brighton's Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo was subject of intense interest in January when Arsenal tried to bring the Ecuadorian to the English capital. The Seagulls held firm then but this summer there is an acceptance that should teams front up the cash that Caicedo will move on.

Talks are set to open between the two clubs over the next 48 hours, it has been reported, with personal terms said not to be an issue.

A fee of around €80million has been mooted for the midfielder who cost Brighton just a fraction of that price two years ago.
