Man Utd suffer transfer blow as Nottingham Forest and Dean Henderson saga drags on

Nottingham Forest are being made to wait even longer in their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Forest are keen on signing the goalkeeper permanently, after he spent last season on loan at the City Ground and impressed before picking up an injury in January. A return to Forest is now on the cards, but it hinges on the goalkeeping situation at Henderson's parent club Man United.

United will be willing to let Henderson go, but not until they sign another goalkeeper in the transfer window. David De Gea has left Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract, only complicating the situation further.

Once United have got their goalkeeper targets in the building, they will then allow Henderson to leave, it is understood. They are embroiled in a transfer saga that has been drawn out even further, which in turn will extend Forest's wait for Henderson.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, United made a €50million offer to Inter Milan for Andre Onana, an offer that has been knocked back. It is said the clubs 'remain locked in negotiations', and another €5million could be enough to seal the deal.

That could pave the way for Forest to finally sign Henderson on a permanent basis. Wayne Hennessey is the only other senior goalkeeper at the club, and it remains unclear if Steve Cooper will want to add another stopper to his ranks.
